Animal Health Improvement within the Sustainable Farming Scheme (SFS) Workshop.

From 2026, farmers can choose to join the Sustainable Farming Scheme (SFS) or remain in the Basic Payment Scheme (BPS), which ends by 2029. Full SFS guidance, including technical notes, requirements, and evidence details, were released in October. But further guidance will be published in December.

The SFS will be the Welsh Government’s main programme supporting farmers, land management, and sustainable food production. It will launch on 1 January 2026, with applications available through the Single Application Form (SAF) on Rural Payments Wales (RPW) Online from March to 15 May each year.

As January is just around the corner, we are hosting two workshops about the SFS.

The first is on Thursday 27th November focusing on flock health and the second on Beef Tuesday 16th December.

Both workshops will focus on the

  • Animal Health Improvement Cycle (AHIC)

  • Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and Costs.

  • Some case studies will be presented at the end of each workshop to give you practical examples on how the AHIC works and how to fill in your AHIC form if you are planning on joining the scheme next year.
